How it all started...

On November 15, 1908 a class was organized that consisted of 17 people. From that small group our church has grown and continued on. The church building was constructed in 1909 and was dedicated in December of 1909. Between 1912 and 1914  an addition was added to the back of the church. Originally there were stables behind the church for families to tie their horses and park their wagons.  Between 1915 and 1916 the parsonage was built. Bethel church is the oldest functioning church in the Western Conference of the Evangelical Church. There is a long legacy of loving thy neighbor, one which we strive to continue today.

Where we are now...

Pastor Rory started his time at Bethel Church in January of 2020. Since then, he has moved with his family into the community. Bethel church strives to provide something for everyone through out the week. The congregation is a small but mighty group who works together to get things done. Our daily goal is to obey the command
Jesus gave us in Luke 10:27:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."

Where we are headed...

As a church we recognize that we have to always be growing and learning and moving forward. That way we stay fresh and healthy. There is always more to learn in the Bible, and people to love and help.
As we move forward that means we will sometimes have to go through some seasons of change. This can be both exciting and painful. However, we know that moving in step with Jesus is always worth the journey.
We are committed to reaching out in new ways, and to continue to grow and change so that we can keep our doors open to everyone in the Broadview and Lavina communities.
